Followers Call for Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the actress are demanding that a individual who jumped a fence and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip depicts the Australian man pushing past media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast made its way down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains recordings of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In footage circulating online, Grande seemed surprised when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Many of fans had assembled in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned 10 award recognitions, securing two for outstanding attire and production design.
