The English squad will initiate their Euro 2028 adventure at the Manchester City’s stadium, provided that they achieve the expected entry for a competition hosted across the majority of the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The Etihad Stadium has not welcomed an Three Lions match since eight years ago, when the Turkish team were overcome 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is expected to host the national team for their inaugural game on a Saturday in June 2028.

England are planned to play their concluding group fixtures at Wembley, but, if they top their group, their knockout stage opener would be held at Newcastle’s St James’ Park. Finishing second would mean commencing the knockouts at Everton’s ground.

Competition Opening and Protest

The championship was inaugurated at an gathering in central London on the previous evening. Senior figures from the tournament organizers and the host FAs were barracked as they approached the venue by approximately 50 activists, who called for Israel’s national side to be kicked out from global football because of the conflict in Gaza.

Tournament Fixture List

Qualifying Teams

The Republic of Ireland are due to play their initial fixture at the Dublin stadium and the Scottish team would follow suit at Hampden Park.

Each host nation’s squad will take part in the preliminary stage; two reserved places will be set aside for any that miss out on the finals through the qualification path.

Stadiums and Playoffs

Aston Villa’s stadium and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium complete the nine tournament locations. Each one will hold at least one playoff fixture, with the last eight played at every host’s main arena.

The qualification draw will be staged in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a tournament location last year when it was revealed the proposed venue could not be redeveloped in time, on December 6, 2026.
